Renewable Energy in Hamilton County

Here is a list of several energy projects in Hamilton County and their impact!

Between the three schools, a total of 4,800 solar panels were installed for a price of $2,806,317.

Prior to HSE’s solar installations, the schools used an average of 3,270,539 kWh of power each year. In 2022, just 846,896 kWh of power was purchased (25%!) — which helped save nearly $350,000 in yearly energy costs. (An 8 year payoff!)

In 2022, energy rates spiked — increasing from 8-10 cents per kWh to nearly 15 cents per kWh. For a school system the size of HSE, an increase of this amount would have a dramatic impact if not for the solar energy they use. (Source: LINK)

Carmel’s water treatment plants use a tremendous amount of power. In a conservation effort, these plants shifted to largely solar energy for their processes. Get an inside look at the project!
These companies and the Carmel library are estimating a 10 yr payback, followed by 20 yrs of free energy. (Source: LINK)
